Order of the Arrow

Hello, Arrowmen!

 

Well, summer is almost over - hope you've had a great one!  Hope you enjoyed Summer Camp, Wood Badge, Twin Arrows, Philmont, Sea Base, OA Indian Summer, family vaction, visit to grandma and grandpa - everything!!

 

I want to let you know about a few OA events coming up for the next couple of months:

 

1. there will be a Ceremony Team practice at the Elks Lodge (where we normally meet for Chapter meetings) at 7:30 pm on Thursday,  August 4, 2011.  If anyone would like to participate, feel free to attend.
2. The Worth Ranch Ordeal is the weekend of August 26-28.  If you know anyone who needs to complete their Ordeal, please encourage them to attend.  I have attached the Brotherhood Q&A if you would like to complete your Brotherhood that weekend.  The link on the Longhorn Council website to register ishttps://events.longhorncouncil.org/OLReg/Events/Ordeal/
3. The Lodge Banquet is September 10 - I have attached a flyer and a petition for lodge election candidacy if you are interested in running for office.  I have also atttached the form to nominate Arrowmen for the Founder's Award.  Please return all nomination forms to our Lodge Adviser, Brock Smith, at brock@smith-green.net.  There should be a link to register online at the Council website but I can't find one yet - I'll let you know when and where I find it.
4. We're still planning on having our big Summer Chapter Reunion for Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the Elks Lodge.  The time will be announced at the August chapter meeting.  A pool party with food is planned, and a commemorative patch will be available for sale at a nominal cost. 
5. The final Ordeal weekend of the year is at Sid Richardson the weekend of September 23-25.  Again, please encourage candidates to complete their Ordeal!
6. An Order of the Arrow Breakfast for the community will be held at Veterans Park on October 15 between 7am-9am.  If you are interested in participating, more info will be provided at the District Roundtable and the August Chapter meeting. 

Again, our chapter, the Talahi Chapter, meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m., at the Elks Lodge, located at 601 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, TX 76010.   We are meeting at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2011.  The chapter officers and I would like to invite all Arrowmen to attend our meeting.  If you're a regular attendee, it will be great to see you again.  If you haven't been to a meeting in a while, please come and reconnect with the Order of the Arrow - we've missed you!
