CubCast

CubCast has been a great tool for sharing new information about the Cub Scouting program and for helping leaders with questions about how to improve their dens and packs.
During our transition month, we will be re-airing the October 2011 CubCast on Citizenship to give you a feel for the type of content we will offer. When you tune in in November, you'll notice that instead of two shorter segments, the new format will include a single, but longer, podcast. This will allow us to delve a bit deeper into those topics that volunteers really want to know more about.
Additionally, we're introducing some new co-hosts that we think you'll love, along with a great new theme song. Tune in and tell us what you think.
You can find us by clicking on the CubCast tab at www.scouting.org/ScoutCast.

On-Line Application Available to Longhorn Council Units

National Announcement-

The Membership Impact Department has linked up with the Information Delivery Group to launch the BSA's first online application process. They offer the opportunity for councils to be part of the beta council testing this fall. Ninety-two councils have agreed to be engaged in this new endeavor.
By participating in the beta testing process, councils will be able to allow prospective Scouting families to submit applications to join online instead of by the traditional paper form.
This is just the first step in the application process. BeAScout Phase 2 will not complete the application process; registration fees will not be collected online.
Training and marketing materials have been developed to assist councils in the promotion of BeAScout, along with resources created to help local council executives and district volunteers train unit leaders on how BeAScout works. Training materials are formatted in PowerPoint along with recorded presentations.
What Units need to know about being part of the Beta test?
The Top Three Unit Leaders will need to have an associated myscouting.org account. These are Charter Organization Representative, Committee Chair, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Coach, or Advisor. A unit will not be able to activate or use the online application if someone is missing in the myscouting.org account. Those that currently don't have myscouting.org accounts will be contacted directly about setting up an account.
If an application is submitted to the unit on-line, does it automatically register? No. If it is a youth, one of the top three leaders has to approve it. Adult the Committee Chair and Charter Organization Representative have to log in and approve it.
What about payment? The unit still collects the registration money and prints a receipt from the beascout.org system with a tracking number.
There will be additional questions we know, please let a commissioner or the district executive know so we can pass them along.
Additional Resources can be found through

Pumpkins for Scout groups from Church Pumpkin Patch

Hey X/T Scouters,

I know many scout groups do pumpkin decorating activities and other fall programs where a pumpkin might be of good use.  Our church along with Rush Creek Christian hosts a pumpkin patch each October to raise funds for Youth Summer Service Trips.  The senior minister and I are both former scouts and from scouting families.  We would love the opportunity to assist scouting groups in picking out their pumpkins.  We have many varieties and sizes that stores don't have and proceeds support youth doing service work (definitely ideals instilled in me by Scouting and OA).  We can't do much of a discount since it is a fundraiser, but our prices compare to stores and vary by size (.50 for 2 inch diameter to $50 for 2.5' diameter).

Press release attached if helpful.

Thank You for your service,
