July10th Boy Scout Round Table

When I think about the up-coming Scout Roundtable I recall the following Bob Dylan lyrics:

“You’d better start swimming or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing.”

The program will be on Aquatics. The program highlight all the recent changes (and there have been some) to certifications, rules and training involving Aquatics and the BSA. The program will be given by a long-time Scout Aquatics expert and practitioner – Lee Smith of troop 396. So come and learn; bathing suits are optional (you won’t hear that at too many Scout events)!
The Scout Roundtable is scheduled for 7:30pm, July 10th, Pantego Christian Academy, 2201 West Park Row.  Be there!

Roundtable programs are always sought. Let me know someone you know who can make a presentation of interest, please.

June Scout Roundtable

The June 12th Scout Roundtable promises to be an interesting event. Merit Badge Counselor Barbara Spurgeon will tell us all about Scuba! Scuba – Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus – has become a very popular Scout aquatic activity.  While the ability to see under Texas waters may be limited – all Scouters attending this Roundtable will get an unobstructed introduction into this very interesting endeavor. There is no reason to wear your bathing suit [your uniform is just fine] cause we are not getting wet, but we are sure to have some fun. Maybe there will be competition to see who can get their wet-suit on first! (Maybe not).
Another added bonus for this Roundtable will be my absence – I will be out of town on a business trip. Really. But the Roundtable will be ably administered by  Walter Nelson. So, just like at school when your regular teacher is out and you have a substitute, be on your best behavior! Mr. Nelson will be taking names!
The Scout Roundtable will be at the Pantego Christian Academy, 2201 West Park Row on Tuesday, June 12th. The meeting will begin promptly at 7:30pm.
Upcoming Roundtables:
July 10th – Aquatics
August 14 – Council Camporee
September 11th – to be announced

Help us show case scouting.

On June 19th, 2012 the Cross Timbers District will be hold the Arlington Silver Eagle luncheon honoring Gary Martin with special Speaker State Senator Brian Birdwell. The Arlington Silver Eagle is our annual "ask for support" from our Community Friends of Scouting Campaign. During this event we would like to showcase what the units in Arlington are doing and need help with several items.

First, If your unit has poster board, display, or activities that could be shared on this day, please let me know. I will be collecting items at Round Table next week or will schedule a pick up time and location. Please let me know.

Second, we are looking for youth in Cub, Boy Scouts, and Ventures to conduct a flag ceremony. Scouts will be asked to be at the College Park Center on the UTA Campus by 11:15 am. A meal will be provided for youth and any parent that accompanies them to the event. Luncheon will be completed by 1:00pm.

Third, we also need help with Thank Yous. We would like to have youth write Thank you notes to our community supporters. If your unit, den, or youth would like to help, we will have cards for pick up at Round Table.

Finally, if you or someone you know would like to attend to support scouting, please let me know.

Kelsey Clark
