I'm looking forward to the units in Arlington flooding my in box!  Kelsey will also have the codes at Roundtable Tuesday night.

Troop 68 Open House 12 September 7:30 PM

Howdy !!!,

I am helping get the work out for Craig "Doc" Poindexter, Scoutmaster at Troop 68.  They are having an Open House on Monday evening, 7:30 PM, September the 12th at the troop 68 Scout House at 407 North Mesquite (Behind the 1st Methodist Church) on Mesquite – North of Division between North a& Sanford Streets.  They will have a lot of their equipment on display and pictures from past events.  They will be cooking something-up, as well. Troop 68 is the longest registered troop in Arlington (since 1929) and Doc has been the Scoutmaster there for the past 30 years. There has been over 100 Eagle Scouts since he came on board as Scoutmaster  They are inviting all Webelos and their parents and Cubmasters  for a good time and look at what they are doing.
There is a Special Fun Campout planned for the weekend of Friday, September 23rd through Sunday the 25th.    This campout has the new potential members in mind and should be a fun time for all.  The Cubs that go will have to be accompanied by a parent.  All of this will be explained at the meeting. You can go to   www.troop68.org  to see what trips are coming and who the contact people are.  We know that Webelos need to go visit a Scout troop to earn their Arrow of Light, so we encourage both Webelos ones and twos to attend.
I have included at least one member of each Cub Pack on this e-mail.  Please get the word out to you your Webelos leaders, so they can plan to come to a fun night.  This is a strong troop with a lot of great history and traditions in Arlington.  And if you can't make the open House, please feel free to come to any Monday night meeting at 7:30 and join in.

Thanks for all you do.
Wes

Flag Retirement Ceremony 9/10/2011

Scouter and Scout Community,
Sorry this is short notice. We have had a great group of volunteers working on getting this together.
On Saturday September 10th a Flag Retirement Ceremony has been planned to be held in the parking lot of Nuts and Bolts Hardware (2320 S Collins St in Arlington). We are asking if any Boy Scout, Venture, and Adults that could help arrive no later then 10:30am in uniform and bring scissors to help in the ceremony.
Cub Scouts, Parents, and Community are welcome to attend the Ceremony that will start at 11:00am. The plan is to retire flags for an hour and to be done by noon.
Back ground information on the collection of Flags- http://kluv.radio.com/2011/06/01/kluvs-fresh-flag-project-2/
There seems to be fewer flags flying these days, and many of those that still fly show signs of wear and tear.
As we approach Sunday's commemoration of the 9-11 attacks on America, 98.7 KLUV encourages you to replace your worn, torn or tattered flag and fly a bright, fresh flag on this most important of anniversaries.
We've teamed with Elliott's Hardware, Mr. C's Ace Hardware and Nuts 'n Bolts Hardware to make three-by-five, American-made, American flags available for just $5…but only through this Sunday, 9-11.
Just bring your old flag to one of the locations listed below and you can get a new flag for Just $5 (including pole and mounting bracket).
$5 is the price…but if you pay $6 (or more!), the extra funds will be donated to the USO at DFW Airport!
Whether you decide to buy a flag or not, you can bring in an old flag and we will see that it receives a respectful and proper retirement.
