Hello Friend of Arlington Youth!
On April 21st, 2012, The Arlington Alliance for Youth will host Global Youth Service Day to showcase all of the amazing ways that young people are serving our community (in conjunction with UTA's Day of Service). Groups who participate by conducting a service project on April 21st are eligible for grants of up to $300 to help fund your project. Groups who may participate include Church Youth Groups, Afterschool Programs, School Clubs and organizations, Sports Teams, Cub and Boy Scouts and Venturers, Girl Scouts, Leadership Clubs, etc. Any group of youth ages 0-23 can participate!
Additionally, the City of Arlington will host a City-Wide Celebration event at 11:30 that day to honor the contributions of young people. The celebration will feature a free hot dog lunch for all, awards, music and fun! All Global Youth Service day participants and advisors are invited and encouraged to attend.
To participate, all you need to do is fill out the quick online Coalition Pledge. We will hold an informational meeting this Thursday, January 26th at the Junior League of Arlington from 4:30-5:30. Please plan on attending so that we can share with you all of the details and let you know about our exciting recognition programs that are tied in with GYSD.
If you have any question about how to participate, please contact GYSD Chair Tim Cameron at timc@ymca-arlington.org
