All,
Here is what I found out From my Webinar.- Lead by Matt Dukeman
National Week of Giving February 4-10th.
Using a place to give web site- See Longhorn Council http://aplacetogive.scouting.org/magento/give-to-local-scouting?cid=662\
Purpose- Use A place to give to enhance FOS and Anniversary Week to connect with new and current donor as a coordinated online giving effort.
Tools- The council site see above link. Sample Press release, supporter website banners and e-mail templates. Currently not available through website I was given. Will check tomorrow.
Plan- They recommended the following
Set a Goal for that week-
1 Week out press release
Monday Thursday- Emails
Tuesday Friday- Website updates
Daily Updates via social media
Feedback from a place to give take about a month. Michael Wright can e-mail to get most updated numbers.
Andy and I talked about it yesterday. I think it is a go but will need some communications.
Plan-
Goal- we have 34 currently- How many participants would we like to add that week?
Procedures-
1) Units will be asked to collect pledge cards and turn in at Round Table the next week. Website is last option. Need to have directions on how to report so that we get credit for it. Andy this might be a good place your Friend could look and see the process.
2) E-mail that Unit Coordinators can send out much like the one some units already have been given. Attached Pledge Card and New to Council Page (See e-mail below)
3) Mailed Letter to Donors similar to e-mail that goes out asking them to log on or mail a pledge card in.
4) E-mail Monday and Thursday
5) Daily updates via social media
6) Follow up e-mail Friday after Round Table
Thoughts?

Dear Scout Parent (or Personalized):
The Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America is currently conducting a Friends of Scouting campaign. I think you will agree Scouting is truly an important part of what makes America great. The principles that Scouting teaches are as relevant today as they were when the Boy Scouts first began 100 years ago.
By investing in our youth through the Friends of Scouting Campaign, you can help direct young men into a program that stands for what is good and right in today's world. The Friends of Scouting Campaign is designed to allow you to join hands with the Longhorn Council to help ensure a quality Scouting program is delivered to young people in the Longhorn Council and the Cross Timbers District.
In 2011 in the Cross Timbers District the Friends of Scouting Campaign Supported the efforts of our volunteers in the following ways
73 Total Units
- Units Retained 70% of their scouts from 2010 to 2011
- 70% of our Unit Achieve at Least Bronze on the Journey to Excellence Unit Rating System
699 Cub Scout Members in 22 Packs
- 70% of Cub Scouts received a Rank Advancement
- 36% of Cub Scouts Attended Day Camp
719 Boy Scouts and Varsity Members in 38 Troops or Team
- 47% or Boy Scouts Received a Rank Advancement
- 61% of Boy Scouts Attended a week long or high adventure camp
- 33 Young men Earned Eagle
196 Ventures in 15 Crews
18 Youth in the Arlington Law Enforcement Explore Post
The Friends of Scouting Campaign also helped 600 Cub Scouts in 8 Packs in East Arlington supported by The Longhorn Council Urban Program.
At our next meeting on ______ at ______ we will have a Friends of Scouting Presentation conducted by __________. This meeting will be thee kick-off for our units Friends of Scouting Campaign. Our goal this year is to have _____ percentage of family participate.
Once again, thank you for your consideration of this request. If you have any questions, please call me. Together, we can help deliver the promise of the Scouting program.
Sincerely,
Unit Campaign Coordinator
