Youth Protection Training (Texas-approved Course) Offered
Just in time for Jamboree and summer camps, the National Office will provide two sessions of Youth Protection Training!
On Monday, April 29, at 9 and 11 a.m., we will offer Texas-approved Youth Protection Training. The course will be held in the Conference Center (Rooms 102 and 103 on the 1st floor of the National Office). The course will take approximately 90 minutes.
The State of Texas Administrative Code for Camps requires that any adult attending or staffing a camp within the State of Texas must be trained in the youth protection laws for the State of Texas in a face-to-face, instructor-led setting. Attending this training, under Texas law and the BSA's youth protection training program, is applicable for those attending camps in Texas and meets the BSA requirement for Youth Protection Training for registered leaders (Y01).
We are so fortunate to have on our contractor staff, Debbie Sullivan, who is a Project Manager working in the Initiatives Management Office. Debbie is a tenured volunteer with Circle Ten Council. She is a certified Youth Protection Trainer and is the course director of an upcoming Circle Ten Wood Badge course at Philmont.
Anyone can attend, and you may invite any other BSA member of your family, and/or your friends, to attend. The only requirement is that all attendees be currently-registered members of the Boy Scouts of America.
Please send registrations of all attendees tojudy.maldonado@scouting.org by noon on Friday, April 26, and indicate session choice. There are no other live sessions planned at the National Office this year. If you are not able to attend one of these sessions, this course is offered at Circle Ten Council and Longhorn Council on a regular basis. Please check their websites for their schedules.
