Membership Message: Join Scouting Week, The Plan

Dear Unit Leader,

Thanks to all who attended last week’s Membership Summit for the Cross Timbers District. I wanted to send a follow up email regarding our district’s plan to increase membership this spring for all scouting units. While we continue to focus on recruitment at the Pack level, we expect this coordinated effort from all units will increase membership at all levels. So, here is the plan:

Steps:
  1. Each pack pick a rally date between May 9th - May 13th, 2016
  2. Coordinate date with one or more Troops and Crews in your area for additional support.
  3. Complete school facility use forms and obtain necessary approvals. Get approval for flyers, posters and other methods of communicating the Join Scouting Night date within the schools. If possible, schedule “School Talks” or assemblies in the school for the week prior to the event.
  4. Date secured and details to Bob.Watson@arlingtontx.gov or 214-208-0834 by April 9th to receive your Rally In A Box!*, Gnome Rockets**, printed flyers, lawn signs, recruiting materials and handouts (Council will provide all free of charge
  5. Flyers must be delivered to the school at least one week before the date of your Join Scouting night. Make sure to leave a thank you note/gift for the school’s secretarial staff.
Remember:
*Council’s Rally In A Box! has taken the homework out of conducting a rally. It has everything you need for the Alka Seltzer Rockets activity, step by step instructions for what to say, do, and there is even an instructional video on how to use the kit coming soon tocrosstimbersdistrict.org
**Council is offering Gnome Rockets not only to New Cub Scouts (who sign up with an application and paid Council fees) but the Recruiting Cub Scout as well!

If you have any questions or just want to talk through your game plan, please give me a call, shoot me a text, or email me. I am here to help you an any way I can.

Sincerely,

Bob Watson
