Cryptolocker Virus Advisory

Cryptolocker Virus Advisory to Clients

As many of you might already know the Cryptolocker virus has been proliferating throughout the internet. This is a serious virus that encrypts all of your documents and requires its victims to pay a ransom to unlock their files. Infected users either have to pay the ransom or restore from backup.

Even though your computers are protected by Anti-virus software the virus may get through if the user is lured into clicking on the wrong email or web link.

Very recently we have seen the virus disguise itself as an email claiming to be a fax@[your domain] (Example: fax@bitxbit.com) with a link to the virus on the dropbox.com website.

Do not click on this link and delete the email immediately as well as alert your IT support.

As always be careful about opening any attachments being sent from unknown users. Also, never open any attachments with .zip or .exe extension.s

For more information on this virus please check the following link:http://blog.malwarebytes.org/intelligence/2013/10/cryptolocker-ransomware-what-you-need-to-know/

Order of the Arrow

Arrowmen,
This past weekend we held the second Ordeal weekend of the year, and we had a great turnout.  There were nearly 300 candidates and members in attendance, with over 270 new OA members inducted and many Ordeal members sealing their membership by completing their Brotherhood.  This included many of our own candidates and members.  Please join me in welcoming our newest Arrowmen to the Talahi Chapter:
Ordeal
Kevin Kuhlman, Skyler Roe, and Colin Shelton
Brotherhood
Christopher Weaver
And I inadvertently omitted Shahin Soltanian from the list of new members from the SR2 Ordeal - congratulations also to Shahin.
The next two Ordeals are August 22-24 at Worth Ranch and September 19-21 at Sid Richardson.  Please encourage your troop's candidates to attend, urge your Ordeal members to do their Brotherhood, and please come out and join us also.
Scoutmasters & Leaders: please check with these new members, if they are in your troop, and ask if they have received this email.  If not, please send me their email address so that I can send OA info to them.  Thanks.
And as always, the Talahi Chapter meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m., at the Elks Lodge, located at 601 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, TX 76010.   Our next scheduled meeting is at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.   The chapter officers and I would like to invite all Arrowmen to attend our meeting.   If you're a regular attendee, it will be great to see you again.  If you haven't been to a meeting in a while, please come and reconnect with the Order of the Arrow - we've missed you!
Yours in Brotherhood,
Gary Faletti
Talahi Chapter Adviser
