Welding Merit Badge College

Dear Scouters:

This is the announcement for the Welding Merit Badge College, sponsored by American Welding Society North Texas Section and Lincoln College of Technology. This will be a unique opportunity for your Scouts to work on this merit badges because it is not normally available to your unit.

TIME & PLACE: The Merit Badge College will be conducted on the Lincoln College of Technology, Grand Prairie campus on Saturday, December 8th, 2012: 2501 Arkansas Lane, Grand Prairie, TX 75052

COST: Free. Troops must register a minimum of two adults (unless a troop consists of only 1 scout or only 1 family of scouts).  Each troop must supply an adult to serve as a Monitor for the class. (Please note: You may choose to have several adults share this responsibility. Monitors assist instructors in maintaining the learning environment and safety in the welding lab).  Lunch will be provided.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Registration will open November 8, 2012 continue through November 30, 2012  or until all 30 slots are filled, whichever comes first. Troop registration via e-mail to me will be accepted if web registration is not possible.

CLASS SCHEDULE: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Registration: 8:00 - 8:45 am. Class 9:00 - 10:30, Welding Lab 10:30 - 11:30 am, Lunch 11:30 am - 12:30 pm; Welding Lab12:30 - 5:00 pm.

There will be a separate general meeting from 8:45 to 9:00 am meeting for the scoutmasters and adult representatives.

RELEASE FORMS: All registered Scouts and adults must submit a completed Lincoln College of Technology Release Form, which we will have available for download over the web in a few weeks.

The completed Release Forms can be scanned and e-mailed to me. Scout who does not submit a release form will not be allowed to attend merit badge class.

UNIFORM: Scout field uniforms (“Class A” uniforms) should be worn.

PREPARATION: Once your registration is confirmed, and your Scouts should read and prepare all they can before arrival. We suggest that Scouts review welding merit badge book and worksheets to insure the greatest possible learning experience and completion rate.

Order of the Arrow Brotherhood

Note: Cross Timbers District Alone has over 50 Ordeal Members that could go for Brotherhood at this event!!!!

The online registration is now live and you can register for the Ordeal online.

Please help our Order of the Arrow Lodge by calling and emailing the OA members on your district list and encourage them to attend the December Ordeal at Worth Ranch on 12/8/12 the cost is $16. We only need 50 more people to attain the level of Brotherhood for the Order of the Arrow in order to achieve the Journey to Excellence Gold level for OA. I would like to challenge each district to ensure that a minimum of 5 OA members attend the December ordeal. Please enlist the help of your OA Chapter Advisors and Chiefs.

Here is the webpage for the online registration.

Thank you very much,
